Earthworks on Cheat Mountain
Signs of a recent fire are starting to disappear under spring growth at Cheat Mountain Summit.
McClellan ordered a fort built here in 1861. It was occupied Summer 1861 - April 1862 and was known as Cheat Summit Fort but was sometimes called White Top or Fort Milroy.
